Coooold

Coooold

Winter is coming, and it’s coming fast. At least that’s how it seems. I’m sitting here with socks, but my feet are still freezing cold. It’s only September, and a few weeks ago we were melting, because it was too hot. The weather sure is weird. It’s supposed to get a bit warmer again this weekend, and I hope that’s true.
Today I handed over the Movies category to Anna. I’m sure she’ll do a great job. And I can finally concentrate on my Stage Shows and Places more, and above all, I might be able to get MalcolmGets.Com finished some time soon. And there’s also Secret Obsession and several fanlistings. We’ll see how that goes.
Son’t know what else to write about, so I’m gonna continue with the usual Friday memes.

The Friday Five
1. Is the name you have now the same name that’s on your birth certificate? If not, what’s changed?
It’s still the same.
2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be?
I’d change my middle name, I really don’t like it. Don’t get me wrong I like it on other people, it just doesn’t fit me.
3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?)
I was named after my grandmothers. 🙂
4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?
I don’t really hate any names, just dislike, and that would be my middle name. Love? Mmmmh, I love a lot of names. Just a small selection: Janine, Leigh, Brandon, Justin, Justine
5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com accurate? How or how isn’t it?
It’s dead on accurate. I was very surprised when I read it. Everything bold is true:
Your first name of Anna has given you a quick-minded, sensitive nature. It gives you a creative ability in art, music, singing, or fancywork and an appreciation for refined surroundings. Your sociable nature expresses affection, kindness, and thoughtfulness to the extent that it is difficult for you not to be affected by others and governed by your emotions, rather than by logic and reason. As you respond to love and encouragement from others, your romantic and dreamy nature can easily lead you into love affairs. Your desire for peace at any price can result in going out of your way to avoid arguments and confrontation or hurting the feelings of others. Also, budgeting can be a problem as you enjoy spending money and can easily ignore being practical.

Weekly Wrap-Up
1. What was the first music video you remember seeing? What was memorable?
Mmmh, that’s a hard question. I think it must’ve been a Queen music video, a friend borrowed me her Greatest Flix tape, and I think that’s what I saw first.
2. What was your favorite music video as a teenager? Why?
a-ha’s “Take on me” video. I just loved it was done and Morten was sooooo hooottt! He’s still hot today! :hearts:
3. How often did you watch MTV as a teen? How often now? Why has this changed, if at all?
I think I watched MTV and Viva (German music channel) nonstop as soon as I came home from school. Today I don’t watch it anymore at all. Don’t know, just isn’t my thing anymore. Don’t like most of the music they’re playing nowadays.
4. Did “video kill the radio star,” as The Buggles asserted in their 1980 song of the same title? Why or why not?
No, I don’t think so, really. Personally, I’d choose the radio over MTV any day. You have a bigger variety, lots of different stations to choose from.
5. What is the best music video ever made? Why?
Tough one. I really loved Michael Jackson’s Black or White video, I loved how it was made, all the different people fading into each other. And the message it brought across was just great.

Changes

Changes

You might have noticed that a few things changed around here. I installed a book and music script, and added a deskcam, which is running when I’m online. It updates every 20 minutes, so when I’m at my computer you can see what I’m doing. 🙂 And yes, I’ll turn it off when looking at naughty stuff. No need for you to know about that. 😉
The music script is running when I’m online and listening to music via Winamp, like right now. Actually the script should be a bit more enhanced but for some reason the ping to trackback is not sending the album information. Anyone know why that could be? It is added in the URL, so I really don’t understand. Well, maybe the folks at the mt forum will know. *sighs*
Well, and then obviously I removed the header images of the several sections and replaced them with divs. It looks much neater in my opinion. What do you guys think?
So, what else is new?
Ah, yes, I didn’t get the internship. 🙁 But I think you already guessed that, ’cause if I’d gotten it, I would’ve posted here right away. Got the standard rejection mail. :banghead: I was really looking forward to it. Well, I can just try to not think about it and say that it’s their loss, even though I know that’s not true.
Today I sent Bonnie a mail telling her that I want to let go my position as movies staffer. It’s just getting too much for me right now. I have 2 webistes to finish, and several fanlistings, and sometimes I actually have a life outside the internet. Yes, I really do, though it’s very rare. I will still keep Places and Stage Shows though. I love those two too much to give them away. Of course I loved Movies too, but it was just the busiest one of those three. It was a very hard decision to really split with one anyway, been thinking about it for weeks.

I think that’s all I have to post about today, though to make this entry a bit longer, here’s the Daily Double

1. How many meals do you eat a day?
I eat a small breakfast and then either lunch or dinner. So that would make 2 meals.
2. How many dictionaries do you own?
Too many. I have 2 huge English dictionaries, the Collins and the American Heritage. Then I have a small English-German, German – English, French – German, Spanish – German. I think that’s all.

Well…

Well…

Actually this is just a test entry. I tried to install the Amazon Plugin and Bookqueue, and the istallation process went through without any problems, however, now when trying to change a template I get an error message. 🙁
Just want to see whether I get it when posting too…

Miss me?

Miss me?

:paperbag: I know I know, I haven’t blogged in a while, but I was so wrapped up in stuff I’m doing at the moment…
I’m now taking care of 3 categories at TFL.org, I don’t think I mentioned that, did I? The 3rd category being Places. I really need to update that again, too. But we just added subcategories, so that’s a kind of excuse.
I also made some more fanlistings, I’m now getting very close to 50. Right now I have 47, with one approved on upcoming and 3 more that haven’t been approved yet. Just have to be patient. 🙂
So, about the internship as a webproducer, I had an interview for that on Wednesday. Personally I think it went pretty well, but I don’t know the result yet. They had some more people coming in and the guy who interviewed me said they’d get back to me either by this Friday (yesterday) or Friday next week. Since I didn’t hear from them yesterday, I guess I’ll have to be patient and wait till next Friday. Please keep crossing your fingers for me. Even if it isn’t a paid internship I would really, really love to do it. Obviously it would also help for future applications.
So, what else can I tell? Last night I was at a class reunion, which was kinda fun, buit sadly it wasn’t really many people. 15-20 I think. We’ve had a reunion every year now, so there’s not really anything new you hear from people. Though now the first people are getting married. I’m very happy for them (esp two of my best friends who are getting married on Friday!! Yay! ), but somehow it’s also a bit frustrating. They already found the person they want to spend the rest of their life with, and I’m still sitting here all alone. :bigcry:
I guess this is the cue for me to post the Weekly Wrapup:
1. What is the earliest crush you can remember having? Who was it? How old were you? And what did you do about it?
Mmmmh, I was 11 or 12 I think and it was the son of my mom’s friend. He was way older than me, and never did anything about it. That would’ve been too embarrassing.

2. What celebrity did you obsess over as a teenager? How did your tastes change, if at all, during your teenage years?
Oy, there were several. For example I was soooo in love with David Hasselhoff when I was 12. I swore that I’d still love him when I’m 90. LOL, guess what? I can’t stand him anymore.

3. What kind of crushes (i.e., real people vs celebrities) do you have now? Are they fleeting or long-lasting? How?
Well, I think everyone knows about my celebrity crush, right? Yes, of course Malcolm Gets! What’d YOU think? 😉 And this is definitely not a fleeting crush! I’m afraid it’s here to stay for a while. His fault really, why does he have to be so damn sweet and gorgeous? :hearts: Yes, I DO realize he’s gay, so what? Should that stop me from fantasizing? Why?

4. What would you do now if you were face to face with your #1 crush from childhood or teenage years?
Ummm, I don’t think that would be a big deal, it’s been a while since I’ve last seen him, but still, I’d just act normal around him.

5. Who is your #1 crush today? Why?
Besides Malcolm? 😉
Nah, ok, I can’t say there is a real #1 crush for me right now. There is this guy who’s kinda cute, but that’s not for here. If you’re reading my LJ you might know who I mean. 🙂

Oh well…

Oh well…

I really couldn’t wait….and so I ordered the second QAF season on DVD *slaps self*. But then again, I really love DVDSoon, DVDs are usually cheaper there, and right now they have free shipping, AND they declare the packages as gifts worth 12 CAD, so they go through customs without problems. Wooo. 😀

Oooh, and another thing, thanks to Eliza I found a place where they are looking for trainees for a web-producer position for at least 6 months. I filled out an online application for that, so please cross your fingers for me!!

Upset

Upset

How could they have the 1st season of QAF end like that??? I bawled my eyes out! :bigcry:
I wanna have season 2!!! *whines*

I would’ve loved to post a This-Or-That Tuesday, so this post wouldn’t be completely pointless, but well…they’re on hiatus. 🙁

I’m still alive :)

I’m still alive :)

Long time no update again…but well, I do have an excuse. Last week Eliza was visiting me and I was at the skijumping competition this weekend.

It was great to have Eliza here! We had a lot of fun, though it was really awful to go outside since it was so hot, and still is for that matter. I hope this heatwave will be over soon, I’m sick of sitting in my room all day long. The other place I would be able to go to is our freezer. 😉
On Tuesday we went to the Corso Movie Theater in Vaihingen (Stuttgart). That’s a movie theater that only plays movies in the original version. I really have to go there more often. There are some American’s stationed close by, could help with my plans of finding an American guy. :smug: Anyway, we saw “Legally Blonde 2” and let me tell you, the movie is just hilarious!! Maybe not as good as the first one, but that’s usually the case for sequels, eh?
While Eliza was there I also got the confirmation that my application for the Greencard lottery arrived. Around November I’ll get the certificate from the USA which confirms that they have received it. It’ll take till April till we found out whether we were lucky or not (Eliza applied too). If I know my luck, I won’t win, but yeah, I really have to start thinking positive. 🙂
Now to my weekend…woah I’m so glad I actually survived that! It was unbearingly hot. Standing in the sun all day long really wasn’t very fun. But seeing Hanni jump kinda made up for that. Mmmmmh, he looked very good, as usual *drools* But….since it was so hot the jumpers got out of their suits after jumping, and woah, Hanni has some very very skinny arms. Almost scary. Never really noticed that before. I mean, yeah, obviously he’s skinny, being a ski-jumper, but like that?? I don’t know…the others weren’t that bad.
Martin didn’t jump on Saturday in the team competition, and we were pretty upset about that. 🙁 But we still saw him, so that was ok. Also looking very good as usual. 🙂
We were standing right next to the press area, so we had a good view of the guys, when they walked away. I only had a small disposable camera with me but I hope the pictures turned out good. Though we will get some very good ones too. There was this one photographer from Uvex (you know, the guys who make the goggles and stuff) and she wrote my friend’s and my address and promised to send us some pictures of our favorite teams (being the German and the Finnish team). I realy can’t believe it. So nice!! Professional pics….for free! I guess I can believe in the good in humans again.
Hah, a funny thing that happened at a restaurant Saturday night…well, maybe not THAT funny, but my friend and me had a hard time not laughing out loud. My friend ordered Spaghetti and I ordered a Pizza. While my friend was already eating I still had to wait. And my Pizza wasn’t there yet when my friend was finished eating. That seemed really weird. And the folks at the table next to us seemed to have a similar problem. 3 were almost finished eating and the 4th one was still waiting for her food. Well, we both complained about it and they promised the food would be there right away. 2 minutes later they came back and asked that lady what she ordered. Well, she told them and soon later she finally got it, as I got my Pizza. Well, apparently they didn’t bring that lady what she really ordered, so he told the owner who came to check if everything was alright. And do you know what he said? He staired at her and asked “So what do you want me to do now? Do you want me to hang myself??” How incredibly rude! But really, it was so funny, I wish the woman had said yes…
We were still laughing about that when we went back to our hotel!

One more thing…
….Thank you so much Dennis for copying the QAF episodes for me!!! Oh I sooooo love that show!! Can’t stop watching it. I started watching on Friday evening, had to take a break on Saturday and most of Sunday, but until now I already watched 16 of the 22 episodes! It’s very very addictive! Now I just wish I could get my hands on the second season too. *sighs* Oh well, I guess I’ll have to be patient. :blank:

Ok, I think that’s it for today. 😀

ETA: Woah I think I got a little smiley-crazy there…sorry about that…

Affiliates and such

Affiliates and such

So, I decided to get rid of the Affiliates part on my page. I didn’t have many affiliates anyway, and it just…I don’t know, made no sense at all. I’ll keep the Loved ones though, obviously. But usually I don’t follow requests, I just put people on there when I like their pages and know them one way or another. So unless we know each other, there’s no need to bother asking, sorry. You might have noticed that there are two new people on there: Amy and Lisa. I know them both from the wonderful CodeGrrl Forums.
It is really amazing how many new friends I made ever since I got into this whole fanlisting madness. I’m so glad I discovered that. It’s really addicitive I tell you. I always tell myself, ok this will be the last fanlisitng for a while and a few minutes later I find myself applying for another one. I just can’t stop. Anyone know a cure?
So, I was supposed to pick up Eliza tomorrow, but some things came up, so we had to put it off till monday. Still very much looking forward to seeing her again, though. 🙂

A day late, but whatever…the friday five

1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings? At around 8:30 usually. Yeah, no job…
2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late? Not really. I get up at the same time as during the week
3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning? I turn on my computer and then go to the bathroom. When I’m back my computer is already waiting for me to check my mails.
4. How long does it take to get ready for your day? Not really that long. Don’t know exactly.
5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast? Our kitchen! 🙂

Still here…

Still here…

Ah, didn’t blog in a while. Sorry about that…
Just a few days ago I started to work as second staffer for the movies category at TFL.Org I’m only taking care of Finished, Moved and Closed fanlistings. So this shouldn’t be too difficult. Though, it’s a very large category. Katie, the other staffer forwarded all the forms she had in her mailbox to me, so I made a big update yesterday. Took me a few hours to work through everything. But that’s only ’cause the forms were dating back a few weeks. I’ll try to keep it up to date as much as possible. That way it should be easy to handle.

I don’t think I mentioned Secret Obsession here yet, did I? Yeah, you guessed right, another domain I bought. I just can’t stop. I got the name from a line in “Amour”. In the song “Dusoleil in Jail” Madeline and Claire sing to Dusoleil “I love you, I need you, and you need me too. My secret obsession, oh my Passepartout” When I heard that, I just knew I had to get that as a domain name. I’m crazy, I know. I ordered the domain without even knowing what I was going to do with it. But now I know. I will make that a screencaps site. All the screencaps that are up here, and more I’m going to make will be put up there. 🙂 Well, now I got the idea, but I have no idea what it will look like yet. Grrr. I have way too much t do. And I’m constantly slacking off. I could have already finished the Malcolm page, but no, not even close yet. Though, I am actually working on it, just very slowly.

Other news. Eliza is coming to visit in a bit over 2 weeks. Yay! On August 4th I’m going to drive my mom to her friend, living close to Cologne, and after that I’ll pick up Eliza and we’ll drive back to my place. She will stay till August 8th. I’m sure we’ll have tons of fun!!
A day after she leaves, on Saturday, I’ll drive to Hinterzarten with Biggi, to go see the summer skijumping tournament! So looking forward to that! Hopefully the weather will be better than last year though. Don’t want to be soaked again.

On Tuesday I got a small stack of CD in the mail. 3 to be exact. “Into the Woods”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Hairspray”. I love them all very much, but “Hairspray”, Woah! Awesome!! Have been listening to nothing than that CD for the past 3 days!! If you love musicals, go get it!

I think that was all for today… besides the Weekly Wrapup of course

1. What song (new or old) do you secretly enjoy, but publicly ridicule? Why?
Heh, there are some songs by Jennifer Lopez, that I actually enjoy. *blushes* But really, i can’t stand that woman!
2. Do you carry a purse or tote bag or backpack? If so, what’s inside?
I carry a small backpack when I go out during the day. I have my wallet, keys, and lipbalm in there. When I go out at night, with friends, I usually also have some gloss, mascara and stuff in there. But not always, I’m not that much of a make-up person.
3. Describe your dream job. Why did you select this one?
Professional Photographer. I just loove photography. But I do realize that it is very hard in that business. That’s why I’ll try for webdesign.
4. You are given an opportunity to live anywhere in the world, expense free, but you can never move again. Where do you live? Why?
That’s an easy question. Wanna take a guess? Of course New York City!! I just love the city!
5. What do you like about living in your particular city? Would you recommend it to others as a good place to live and work? Why?
As I usually don’t like too big cities (NYC the exception of course), Reutlingen is perfect. It is big, but not too big. It just has the right size.
6. What five people, living or dead, famous or not, do you wish lived on your block?
Heh, you can take a guess again, who’s going to be listed first. 🙂 Yeap, Malcolm Gets. Other than that, hmmm, oh yeah! Eliza! That way we could meet and talk more often! That would be awesome! Don’t know who else to list…

Lots to do

Lots to do

As some of you might have read in my LJ, I actually went out to a party last night. Haven’t done that in aaaages. And it felt really good, even though most of the time the music was crappy. We didn’t go for long, ’cause Christine had a class at 8 in the morning. We decided to go to another party together in two weeks though. It’s a farewell party for the English students who attended the university for this semester.

Anyway, on to more stuff….my To-Do List, in no particular order:
finish the NDW fanlisting
make the Snow White fanlisting
– keep working on MalcolmGets.com
update Stage Shows at TFL.org
– make tons of Screencaps (several movies)
mail Greencard Lottery application
– copy CitC episodes for Susanne
– copy Amour video on CD for several people
– make Malcolm MP3 CD for Melanie

More will be added as I think of it.

Now for the usual weekend stuff.
The Friday Five
1. Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it?
That was Alex, he lived right next door and we were friends since maybe the age of 2 or 3?
2. Are you still in touch with this person?
No way. We grew apart in 5th grade.
3. Do you have a current close friend?
That’s a tough question, honestly I don’t really have one.
4. How did you become friends with this person?
N/A
5. Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why?
I think I posted about her in my blog before…that would be Danielle. I stayed with her and her mom during a school exchange in the USA and she was like my sister. I’d love to see her again. So far I had no luck finding her. 🙁

The Weekly Wrapup
1. Do you like stormy weather? Why or why not?
In General I really like it. Thunderstorms are great! I love to watch the lightning. But when it comes to my computer I hate them! I’m scared my baby will get hurt.
2. What do you do when a storm breaks in the middle of the night?
If I actually wake up…try to fall asleep again.
3. When you were a child, where did you think the thunder and lightning came from?
The people up in heaven are having a big fight.
4. Describe your favorite and/or worst stormy memory.
Favorite would be the thunderstorm in Monument Valley. It was a gorgeous sight, even though it almost blew our tent away. We spend a long time running around the tent, trying to make sure it doesn’t actually fly away. Other people weren’t as lucky. 2 or 3 tents landed in the valley
